That Costume is How Much?!
We have made it to October. Hopefully, wherever you are in the world the weather is starting to feel a little more like Fall for you. Yes, there are so many different awesome things about this time of year but there are also so many expensive things about this time of year as well.
If you have kiddos I know you know the struggle of, “Mommy, I want to be (FILL IN THE BLANK).” Of course you want your little ones to use their imagination and enjoy the evening but have you seen the price tags of these costumes?! Costumes that they will only wear, most likely, once. It’s insanity. It took me about two years to realize this fact. Enter thrift.
This time of year is awesome because, depending on where you live, there are pumpkins everywhere, leaves changing colors, PSL’s, let’s face it pumpkin everything, but there is also a plethora of gently used costumes at your local thrift stores. Think ARC, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. My sons love to dress up so we have a pretty extensive collection of different costumes, most of which have come from a thrift store.
Here are a few things to remember…
1) Go often.
2) Know the discount tags and colors for the different days. If you are military, most thrift stores will have a military discount day as well.
3) Don’t be afraid to buy a little big (you can always roll the sleeves).
