Female Rock Goddesses
Music...Music is life for me. I was a trained musician for almost 20 years! Life happened. I had a kid, got married, and moved to a small town where there's absolutely no opportunity in music. I hope one day I can get back into the music world and perform on stage again. But until then, I live vicariously through these amazing women, wishing that it was me. Beware, these chicks are bad-ass and can perform like nobody's business.
The first female musician I would like to share with you is Nicole Row. If you follow the band Panic! At the Disco then you've probably seen her. I was first introduced to her this past year when I was able to go see Panic! in Albuquerque, NM for their Pray For the Wicked Tour. Nicole is the newest bass player for Panic!. Man was I impressed and to be frank a little turned on by her (tee hee). That bass was apart of her and she played it like she owned it! If I ever get a chance to play bass again on stage I will definitely be channeling my inner Row.
Next lets talk about this goddess, Maria Brink, lead singer of In This Moment. At first I hated her voice. It was whiny and squeaky. After every word it sounded like she was in a porno....not that I know what that sounds like haha. I was really turned off by her until my husband and I saw her live with Five Finger Death Punch back in 2015. Her voice sounded so much better live, which is really weird because in the music world you'd think the radio version would be the best version. Not in this case. She also put on a great show and her stage performance was amazing! Maria had costume changes almost every song. Now who does that anymore. They were elaborate and she looked like Gothic royalty. At 41 years old, I hope to be as bad-ass as she is when I become that age.
This next girl took my breath away. Tatiana Shmailyuk, from the band Jinjer, is the next up and coming hardcore metal goddess. Jinjer formed in 2008 in the Ukraine and they are just now getting notice all over the world. This girl can scream, literally. Her growls and screams are just as good if not better than any frontman in a metal band and her clean vocals give me the goose bumps every time. Plus she's absolutely beautiful. Just sit back and enjoy this beauty at work!
Lastly, I present to you, Nele Messerschmidt. Lead singer of the German Symphonic Metal band, Elvellon. God I love Symphonic Metal. It brings my two loves of classical music and hardcore metal music together as one. Almost all symphonic metal bands have a front-woman. Nele has a soft full voice that is very easy on the ears. It almost feels like being hugged by a bear in the middle of a moshpit while the guitar riff roars in the background. Even though I just found this band I instantly became a fan. My husband and I will be seeing them in Germany on our honeymoon!
I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my favorite women in metal and I hope one of them becomes a favorite of yours!
