So this is 30


Here are my top 10 realizations, so far, since turning 30.

I am in no way an expert on life but I do know what I have seen and learned in mine.

  • The less makeup the easier your life becomes: On the daily I use a few secret beauty weapons; A refreshing mist toner, eye cream, SPF face lotion, brow brush, and an eyelash curler. On “special occasions” I add black liner, mascara, and a blush/bronzer combo for all eye shadow, blush, etc. That is under eight items needed for my daily routine. The biggest thing I have noticed is that I bank more time with less products and I also show off my natural beauty. Yes, ladies, there is such a thing as natural beauty and I am a firm believer that every woman has it she just needs to find it and exude it.

  • Wash your face: Seriously, on the daily. Whether with an exfoliating scrub, face wash, or even a face wipe….WASH YOUR FACE. This saves a lot of hassle and also just feels good to start with a fresh clean slate in the morning and wash your day away at night. Look into different serums and creams and don’t be afraid to try them out. There are many different places that offer samples of any product you just need to ask!

  • Drink water: This is a huge one. DRINK WATER. Not water in things. Just good plain old H2O. The more water you drink, the better you will feel and look. Trust me on this one. It took me 30 years to figure this one out….go figure.

  • Put good in get good out (this goes with a lot of different things not just your diet): READ THAT AGAIN.

  • Get rid of clothes that don’t fit or flatter: This was a hard one to grasp but as soon as I did life became that much sweeter. Imagine this; you walk into your closet, eyes closed, grab a top and bottom, and put them on. Here’s the catch…they fit! Every piece fits. This doesn’t have to be a dream, you can easily make this into a reality.

  • Make your bed in the morning: This has become more and more of a ritual. The more you do it the better you will feel. After making your bed you have already accomplished one big thing for your day. This becomes contagious and you will end up being productive all day. Now, if you aren’t and you spend the day lounging around….at least your bed is made!

  • Get plants: They give you air, are beautiful, and give you something to care for that appreciates every bit of love you give. My plants are my daily therapy.

  • Make a budget (and stick to it): This one is so important. If there was one thing I could go back and tell my younger self, it would be this. Budgets help to put you on the right track. I mean, let’s face it, we aren’t getting younger ladies! If you want some budget advice I can point you in a few different directions.

  • Dress up for the occasion (including a 90’s concert): This is so important. Don’t take yourself to seriously there’s no point! Have fun. Wear the gawdy jewelry, with the ripped acid wash jeans, and crop top. You won’t regret a second of it.

  • Find out what your favorite coffee, egg, and beverage is: This is just important for life in general. Hell, find out your other favorites as well. It’s always good to know yourself and you should keep learning about yourself daily. Don’t lose sight of yourself.

  • Find your meditation: It doesn’t have to be yoga or meditating. It can be crochet, reading, sitting in the sun, listening to music; basically, anything that will tie you to your soul. This becomes a good way to center yourself when you feel lost.

  • Get a hobby (and one you actually enjoy): This is just good advice in general. Then when you are asked if you have any hobbies you don’t have to lie.

Above all else don’t ever be afraid to learn something new every day.
